Scenarios
CBS supports adjusting the storage hardware type while the business is running. You can upgrade the type while the service is online to meet the higher performance requirements for business development.
Currently, the cloud disk type can only be upgraded and not downgraded. Details are as follows:
- A premium cloud disk can be upgraded to an SSD cloud disk.
Prerequisites
- Cloud Virtual Machine (CVM) Status: For CBS that has been mounted to a CVM, you can adjust the CBS type only when the CVM is in Running or Shutdown status.
- CBS Status: Adjustment is supported only when the CBS is In use or Not Mounted.
- Currently, the type of system disks and non-elastic data disks cannot be adjusted.
- The cloud disk type can only be adjusted when the current availability zone has available cloud disk types for upgrading and the current disk size is within the range supported by the target disk type.
- Adjusting the CBS type does not change the size of the disk. After adjustment, you can refer to Expanding Cloud Disk to adjust the disk size.
- Adjusting the CBS type does not change the cloud disk's lifecycle, disk ID, disk device name, and mount point.
Notes
- Adjusting the cloud disk type uses the data copying method to copy data from the source cloud disk to the target cloud disk. This operation may take a long time due to the size of the data and the data transfer speed. Please wait patiently. This process may slightly affect cloud disk performance, so it is recommended to perform the adjustment during a business downturn period if it involves critical services.
- Downgrading the cloud disk type is not supported.
- We recommend that after completing the adjustment operations, you start up and log in to the CVM to verify data integrity.
Directions
- On the Cloud Disk page, select More > Adjust Cloud Disk Type on the right side of the target cloud disk.
- In the pop-up dialog box, select the target disk type for adjustment, check to agree to the terms, and click OK.
