When a cloud disk is no longer used and important data backup has been completed, you can release virtual resources by terminating the cloud disk. After the cloud disk is terminated, there will be no charge for it. When the cloud disk is terminated, all data on the cloud disk will be deleted and cannot be restored. Note that cloud disks that have been terminated cannot be recovered.
The lifecycle of a non-elastic cloud disk depends on the CVM and can only be terminated when the CVM is terminated. For specific operations, see Terminating Instances.
The lifecycle of an elastic cloud disk is independent of the CVM; therefore, it can be terminated independently of the CVM. This document mainly describes the operations for terminating elastic cloud disks.
Prerequisites
- The cloud disk is in the state of To be mounted. For cloud disks that are in use, you need to detach them first.
- Important data backup has been completed considering demands of business.
Operation Steps
Log in to the CBS console.
You can terminate a cloud disk through the following methods:
- Individual termination: In the row where the target cloud disk at To be mounted status is located, select More > Terminate.
- Batch termination: Select the target cloud disks in the To be mounted state, and click Terminate at the top of the list.
Note:
When a cloud disk is terminated, all data on the cloud disk will be deleted and cannot be retrieved. The cloud disk that has been terminated is irrecoverable, so proceed with caution.
In the pop-up dialog box for terminating the cloud disk, click OK to complete the termination.
Billing for the target cloud disk will stop. The cloud disk will be permanently terminated and cannot be recovered.
