Scenarios
The hardware equipment of the instance can be adjusted quickly and easily, which is an important manifestation of the flexibility of CVM.
This document describes how to upgrade and downgrade configurations and related precautions.
Limitations and Impacts
Adjusting Configuration Limits
Only instance whose system and data disks are both CBS cloud disks supports configuration adjustment.
- Configuration upgrade
No limit on the number of configuration upgrades. All changes take effect immediately. - Configuration downgrade
When you configure an adjustment, the instance specifications that can be changed depend on whether the current availability zone provides the target specifications. Please pay attention to the following restrictions:
- FPGA, and Cloud Bare Metal physical server instances do not support becoming the source or target instance specifications for cross-instance family configuration adjustments.
- Instances configured with a basic network do not support being adjusted to instances that only support VPCs.
- If the target instance specification does not support the CBS type of the current specification configuration, then the adjustment is not supported.
- If the target instance specification does not support the image type configured for the current specification, then the adjustment is not supported.
- If the target instance specification does not support the Elastic Network Interface (ENI) or the quantity configured for the current specification, then the adjustment is not supported.
For details, see Use Limits of Elastic Networks. - If the target instance specification does not support the maximum limit of public network bandwidth configured for the current specification, then the adjustment is not supported.
Impact
In very rare cases, the private IP address may change after adjustment. If there is a change in the private IP, we will display it in text on the adjustment page. If there is no relevant display, the private IP will not change.
Operation Steps
Note
- When your business changes, you can adjust the configuration to meet your needs.
- When you downgrade the configuration, please confirm the refund details and the new configuration takes effect immediately after forced shutdown and restart, and the CVM will immediately run according to the new configuration.
Adjusting Configuration Via the Console
Single Unit Adjustment
- log in to CVM Console, and enter the CVM List.
- In the operation bar on the right side of the instance that needs to be adjusted, choose More > CVM Configuration > Adjust configuration.
- In Adjust configuration, select Adjustment with CVM shutdown or Adjustment with CVM running, and click Next.
- In the Select Target Model step that pops up, select the target model and click Next.
Note: You can filter the specifications that need to be adjusted by selecting the target number of CPU cores or memory capacity and model. - After carefully reading the relevant prompts and verifying the information on the prompt page, click Start Adjusting to initiate the configuration change.
Note: If you select Shutdown Adjustment, then in the Prompt step, you need to check Agree to force shutdown. - After you start the adjustment, the adjustment progress bar will be displayed to facilitate your understanding of the adjustment progress. After completion, click Close.
