This document guides you through managing spread placement groups.

Operation Steps

Creating a Placement Group

1. Log in to the CVM placement group console.
2. On the Placement Group page, click Create.
3. In the pop-up window, enter the name of the placement group and select its placement group level.
4. Click Confirm to complete the creation.

Starting an Instance in the Placement Group

1. Go to the CVM purchase page.
2. Complete the purchase as prompted on the page.
   During the purchase process, be sure to perform the following operations:
   • When setting up the host, on the Set up security groups and hosts page, click Advanced settings, check Add the instance to a distributed placement group, and select an existing placement group.
     If the existing placement group is not suitable, you can go to the console to create a new placement group.
   • When you confirm the configuration information, enter the total number of instances you need to add to the placement group (i.e., the purchase quantity), which must meet the quantity limit of the placement group.

Modifying an Instance's Placement Group

1. Log in to the CVM placement group console.
2. Hover the mouse pointer over the ID or name of the target placement group and click .
3. In the window that appears, enter the new name.
4. Click Confirm to finish the modification.

Deleting a Placement Group

1. Log in to the CVM placement group console.
2. Click Number of Instances for the placement group to be deleted to go to the instance management page, and terminate all instances in the placement group through managing instance placement.
3. Return to the placement group console, select the placement group to be deleted, and click Delete.
4. In the pop-up dialog box, click Confirm to complete the deletion.
   The placement group supports batch deletion and single deletion.
